WHY PARTICLE BOARD!!! I hate the stuff, partly because it has a tendency to
disintegrate unless it has a laminated covering like Formica, and any time
it's exposed to water. In any case I'd strongly recommend using plywood. I
recently worked on a 25+ year old Twin Reverb which had a corner of the Tolex
ripped off. Fender apparently uses that very thin ply plywood for extra
strength -- it had maybe 8 to 10 layers as opposed to the normal say 5.

Antique Electronics in AZ carries Tolex at $10.00 a foot (by 54" wide). They
are at www.tubesandmore.com or 602-820-5411 -- lots of great stuff (and good
people) for old radios and guitar amps etc.
