Two observations, neither of which may be of any import:
1. My one experience with the Kurzweil ribbon controller left me with the
impression it would be hard to duplicate in the DIY
world--tooling/fabrication costs would probably be brutal on a small scale.
2. I, like Larry, own a Micromoog. The micro's ribbon is pretty sweet in
my opinion, & probably would be easier to emulate in a DIY version. Though
I don't know what's under the surface of the ribbon, the fabric on top seems
very similar to the fabric used on electric bag sealers. I don't know
what's going on underneath, but I'm thinking maybe this bag sealer fabric
would go part of the way toward making a diy ribbon a reality.
