Soldering ICs and small parts, 600F ~= 315C

Soldering larger parts, wires to jacks, etc., 700F ~= 370C

SMD solder, hot blowgun set to 960F ~= 515C

DE-soldering, I set the vacuum tool to 752F = 400C for most stuff.

General rule, if the flux is boiling, the tip is too hot.
