I used the 2 prong to 3 prong adapteravailable from most hardware stores in my last place and they worked just fine.

Subject: [motm] 2 prong outlets
Hi everyone. I have a question for theelectrical experts out there: I am moving in the next several weeks, andmy new home is in a 100+ year old building here in San Francisco. Theonly problem with the place is that is has old style 2 prong plugs everywhere. Obviously this poses problems for my MOTM and other synth/audio/electronicequipment. What is the proper way to get around this without having torewire and install new outlets, which is aparently out of the question, as itviolates some sort of SF building code. The landlord suggested somethinghe described as an outlet box with three prong plugs that plugs into the twoprong outlet, and has a wire that goes to the center screw of the oldoutlet that grounds it. Does something like that really work, or arethere better solutions? Is there some type of grounded power strip thathas a 2 prong plug but 3 prong outlets? What about those 2 to 3 prong'ground-lift' adaptors you find in the hardware store (which seem kind of hokeyanyway...)? Thanks for any suggestions anyone may have.
Kevin
