>As far as panel fronts, Dave and I can make a one-off for any design. The
issue is simply cost. The 2U panel I can sell for $23 is closer to $60 when
I only make one because the fixed cost are all dumped on one module instead
of spread across 20 like the pricing model we use for the ones we will sell
many of. And, that does not include us doing the artwork. That other
stooge refuses to work for free and actually wants to charge for his time to
do layout work for one-offs. Go figure. <snicker>
>So, if someone has their heart set on a particular panel, e-mail me
privately and we can make you one. But, you won't care for the price I am
afraid. We make almost nothing on a single panels like this, but simply
pass along the significant cost of starting a new design that we are charged
from the screening/ printing person.
>It might surprise some Stooge panel buyers to know that we have made quite a
few panels that you have never seen for that were made for DIY designs. In
fact, that was the initial purpose of Stooge panels. On the next run, based
on my e-mail, almost all of the new designs will be DIY panels for people
who have their own circuits. Eventually, those that are appropriate may
work their way into the public domain.

OK, since we're talking about the next panel run, I've been wondering if there was any kind of demand for a passive breakout panel for the Kenton Pro-2000 MIDI-to-CV? I know the stooges have already designed a great panel for the Encore Expressionist and, since Paul S. highly recommends the Kenton products, I was wondering how many other MOTMers are like me and use the Kenton.

I'm currently using a homebuilt 1U high x 19" wide panel to bring my Pro-2000's outputs "around to the front". This is a strictly passive panel with no circuitry involved and it sits in a separate rack because it just doesn't fit in with the rest of my modules. I've toyed with the idea of creating something similar to Dave and Larry's Expressionist panel...in other words, a 2U wide MOTM-format panel that would integrate well with the rest of my modular. I have attached a crude bitmap image of what I have been envisioning (please excuse the low resolution; I wasn't sure if a larger image would make it through the "yahoo groups censors".)

Is anyone else interested in this? If so, we might be able to take advantage of the economies of scale Larry talked about. Perhaps the Stooges have already designed one of these as a one-off and would be willing to add them to the next run???

Just my $0.02.
