hello all,
many thanks to John Loffink for putting up that Buchla MARF manual, one day
i'll understand - but that's the beauty of the mini-wave - there's so much
to mess around with
meanwhile, i think i may have accidentally come up with the most annoying
(or the most relaxing) mini-wave patch ever: Synthetic Birdsong
patch MOTM101 sample & hold out to MOTM320 v/oct in
patch 320 saw out to Miniwave input
patch wave out to MOTM300 v/oct input
300 pulse ouput to console / amp / headphones / toaster / whatever
MOTM101 speed 4.1 / level 10 / slew 3.75 / hold
MOTM320 rate 5.8 / shape 3.2
MOTM300 coarse 7.2 / fine 1.2 / width 5
Wave eeprom b / bank 14 / wave 7 / 0-10v
It still needs some tweaking, the VCO pitch sets the "size" of the bird,
though outside of a very narrow band, it sounds obviously synthetic instead
of nearly realistic. some of the voltages sent to the lfo will cause very
synthetic sounding held notes - this can be reduced by multing the mini-wave
output to the trig input of an EG / VCA combo - my MOTM800 settings were A=0
/ D=4 / S=0 / R=0. You could also slowly sweep the Wave CV for different
'songs', and greater expression could be achieved by modulating the external
clock input of the MOTM101
It certainly had the starlings going this afternoon...
cheers
