Subject: RE: [motm] new encore modules

Regarding the new encore modules, WOW, great stuff is coming our way.
If I could put in my 2 cents...

Frequency Shifter:
Can you put numbers next to the dial tick marks, just to make patch
annotation a little easier? I find I always have to count the tick
marks on the UEG when writing down a patch. Maybe it's must some
dyslexia I have. Can you put a graphic on the large blank space so it
doesn't look like so barren? Maybe a block diagram view of the module?

Expressionist:
Can you fit this into 2U wide? How about more outputs? I think 12 is
adequate, but 16 would be better. I don't believe the line between
two outputs is needed; every output should be able to be a continuous
CV or gate with a generic name like OUT1...OUT12. I don't have an
Expressionist so I can't comment on the software side. I use an
Roland MPU-101 (16 outputs) and would be interested in something that
offers all the same features:

1. 4 channels (mono or poly grouped) each with pitch CV, dynamics CV, and gate
2. 4 auxiliary outputs (aftertouch, pitch bend, mod wheel, volume)
3. front panel TUNE button (all gates go high, all pitch CVs output
same value) 4. front panel TUNE knob (semitone flat or sharp)
5. front panel HOLD button for enabling/disabling a sustain pedal
6. front panel CLEAR button to clear any stuck gates (happens when
midi cables get unplugged accidentally)

Hmmm, maybe with all of these features you'd need a 4U wide module. ;-)
