This is true. You would need a five channel mixer and a wonky VCA to
completely replace a Minimoog.

Yes, you would need both envelope modulation and key tracking, and using a
Moog to produce oscillator FM patches is very popular nowadays. Perhaps
this is because you can't get the same sound out of any VA that does filter
FM, such as a Waldorf Q, and producers are trying to show off that they
have a real analogue.
