Subject: End cap... errr... issues

Well, despite the fact that the hole is large enough to support 1/16 inch of
slop movement side to side, I have already encountered a rack that my end
caps do not fit. Sigh....
I do not know how many of you this will impact. The cap did undergo fitting
test in several racks (including the SKB) prior to being sent off to the
metal shop.
But, given the apparent variety of "rack standard" implementation, some of
you may find your hole off slightly. Future versions of this end cap will
have the hole slightly slotted to address this issue.
So, what do you do if your end cap hole will not line up? Well you have
options.
1. Think to yourself, "I have been waiting 2 years for these, I'm not
giving them up, and drill the hole out to a slightly larger size so that
they will indeed fit your rack. How big? The existing holes are about
15/64 inches. So, good drill choices would be 1/4" for if you are within
1/32 of fit, 17/64 if you need 1/16" to fit, 9/32 if you need another 3/32"
and so on. You metric guys get out your own calculator. :)
2. Think to yourself, "I cannot operate / do not own a drill and want Larry
to fix them for me." Send them back to me and I will drill them out without
mucking up the nice paint and I will send them back to you at my cost.
3. Quietly 'cuss the Stooge (emphasis on quietly) and send your end caps
back for a full refund, or a Stooge replacement credit for free replacement
when I run these again with a slotted hole. The down side of this option is
that you will probably have a five month wait before Dave and I paint metal
again for Stooge products.
I doubt that this fit issue will effect many of you. It is impossible to
know with so many different racks out there. But, if it does, refer to
options 1 through 3 above and know your purchase of Stooge products is backs
by a full satisfaction guarantee.
If you do have a rack that the caps do NOT fit, PLEASE tell me exactly what
rack it is so I can put it on my personal "poop" list for future reference.
I plan to exercise option # 2 for all end caps that are not yet shipped, so
that anyone that has not already received their end caps should not have any
fit issues.
