I'd like a mode that would

1.) produce a trigger at the end of a pattern (as it does today)
2.) one that would produce a trigger every step
3.) one that would produce a trigger for every step where the level
was not set all the way counterclockwise (to mimic a rest).

If I had to choose between 2 and 3 I'd choose 3.
