I use a Behringer mixer and it works fine, but I
confess I'm not the most demanding user. I don't
really ever record anything; I just use it as a
"live" mixer in my Music Room. It does get VERY
hot, so if you get one make sure it has some
breathing room. The EQ on it is nothing to get
excited about. OK for the money (not a great
recommendation, but that is what it is). As you
noted there are an equal number of people that say
it sucks.
