I'm looking forward to having the patience to avoid this thread :)

You don't need a pre-amp to properly interface line input with MOTM signal
level. 10Vp-p is around 14dBu. If anything, you might need an attenuator
to bring the level down to MOTM levels.
However, one use for a MOTM pre-amp would be to use it with synthesizers
and effects that produce a much lower output.

Just for sake of argument, can you name a mic-pre or front-end that can't
produce 14dBu?? If you want to use audio as control voltage, then you
would use an envelope follower, pitch-to-CV converter, or some other device.
