Subject: Re: [motm] Do YOU want dress end caps for your MOTM ??

Larry,

Thank you, thank you! Your service to the MOTM community is simply amazing.

I would certainly buy a few sets to handle the modules that didn't make it into my
wood cabinet. I think that MOTM modules in a rack don't appear "professional"
without end caps.

I suggest that you keep the finish simple, matching the modules or at least the same
color unless adding some MOTM specific flair is not very expensive ("Synthesis
Technology" in vertical print, for example).

I'm puzzled by the comments about rack widths. There are standards for this stuff.
The MTOM rack rails have to follow those standards and thousands of products exist
that conform to those standards. Why is there concern about variability if you are
adhering to the standard? My guess is that you should make them slightly narrower
than the distance between a panel on the end of a rack rail and the end of the rail.
I measure this to be about 3/4" regardless of the rack. Whatever you do, don't go
by the width of racks out there. They either hold 19" rack modules or they don't.

Other examples of racks for modular modules exist. Synth.com has something and an
example from 1970 can be found for auction at:
