>Crow: what exactly does a BC-1 or BC-3 output? Direct CVs?<
>>It is just a strain-gauge pot: tip is "wiper", ring is +5V, shield ring is
common. +5V is supplied to the BC-1 from, say, a DX7 BC jack. I've never used
a BC-3, but I would think it to be similar.<<
I tried measuring the voltages coming from the BC-3 connector on my Yamaha
module when I have the BC-3 plugged in and I get something totally different.
In fact I just measured it again right now just to double check and what I
get is about +5V on the shield, about -7.7V on the tip, and the ring varies
with breath control, in my case from about 4.3V with no breath down to -4V
blowing very hard. But there are Offset and Sensitivity adjustments on the
BC-3 so that ring may well have the full range from shield to tip voltages.
Boy it would be nice to be able to use this BC-3 without Midi.
