GREAT idea !! You can make a 5 step sequencer with what you describe.
I have one running now. Here is how I have it hooked.

Use 1 - 822
1 - 831
1- 800 optional
2 - 700
1 - 320 optional

Hook the 800 EG + output to a mult and hook it to ALL 4 CV inputs on your
700s.
Hook NOTHING to the inputs of the 822 and 831
Hook the 5 outputs (any order) of the 822 and 831 to 700 inputs
700 # 1 I/OA, I/OB, I/OD
700 # 2 I/OB, I/OD
on 700 # 1 hook I/0X to I/OC
hook 700 # 1 I/OY to 700 # 2 I/OA
on 700 # 2, hook I/OX to I/OC
Your sequencer output is I/O Y on 700 # 2
hook it to your VCO

Set all 700 switches to voltage.
Set 700 # 1:
top switch to +1
bottom switch to +2
Set 700 # 2:
top switch to +3
bottom switch to +4

On your 800, set sustain and release both to zero
800 attack rate controls your arppeg up and decay controls your arrpeg down
(of course up and down are relative to your 822 and 831 output settings. Of
course, you could use anything for your voltage source instead of the 822 or
831. However, using them gives you exact musical intervals that can be
changed mid sequence without re-tuning.

VERY cool idea Paul. I wish I had thought of it. Since you are using the
800 as your control voltage, you can use many things to trigger your 800.
The 800 will play your sequence each time you sent it a gate. I have a 320
LFO hitting the gate on mine right now.

Another idea I tried is not using the 800 but using the LFO directly for the
CV into the 700s. This works great too and you do not have to manipulate
your attack and decay times when your LFO rate changes. But, more attention
will have to be given to the exact placement of the 700 "switch"controls as
these will now determine the length of each note relative to the LFO
waveform. Some waveforms may require mixing with DC to get the results you
want.

Subject: [motm] arpeggio again

hello all,

something that has been disturbing my thought for sometime has been the
utilisation of larry's 822 / 831 modules with a pair of motm 700 routers to
create arp sequences. i'm correct in thinking that i'd need to hook all
these up to a gate sequencer to get it to work..?
a two note arp sequence would be easy:
lfo square wave to motm 700 cv input
pitch cv to mult to voltage shift 1 & voltage shift 2
voltage shift outputs to motm 700 inputs
motm 700 outputs to vco v/oct input
i get lost somewhere trying to work out where the vca gates come from, and
of course the ultimate goal is to create four note sequences (i've only a
pair of 700s...)

any thoughts..?

just visited parents / brain is shorted out

cheers
paul b
