Dagnabbit. I was wondering why this never showed up to the group... ;)

In my fleeting moments of EE (school projects, mostly), I've seen a few
small variations on these standards.
For example, two crossed wires (no bump, no dot) may mean either connected
or NOT connected. The meaning is only inferred when looking at other
crossed wires. If there are crossed wires with a dot, then crossed wires
with no dot (and no bump) means not connected. If there are crossed wires
with a bump, then crossed wires with no bump (and no dot) means connected.
I don't think I've ever seen a schematic with all three variations-- that
would be majorly confusing (as if what I just said wasn't?)!!
A question: are variable capacitors actually in use? They seem not nearly
so common as variable resistors.

Thought this might be helpful to a few people when reading schematics.
