Be sure that you don't have the RES set to 10. Rather, set it
for the ∗onset∗ of resonance (about 8.5 on my system, where I set
the trim pot).

At resonance onset, the sine is the most pure. As you increase the RES pot,
it will "square up" slightly due to the resistor/cap/OTA gains being not
matched perfectly.

Also, remember you will be driving a signal about 6V pk-pk out. This is 6
times larger than
a "standard output" and the 'distortion' may be in your mixer/preamp/amp,
not the MOTM
itself.
