a) Use the input level of the '420 or '440. Just set the IN level to like 3.
That will reduce the
output signal to about +2dBu. In other words: if your patch has a '420 or
'440 in the signal path,
just crank the gain down in the filter.

b) use the CV MOD pot on the '110. This can be thought of as an overall
'volume' control. If the '110
is the last module in the signal path, try setting CV MOD to like 4.
