A pertinent thread! I too will soon be in need of more power than the std
.8A supply can provide. I agree that using the 2U of space some of us have
at the bottom of our cases/racks for the power supply is a great idea. It
would also be a good location for the 940 patch panel or DIY-Expressionist
breakout panel.

I have some additional ideas for those of us who will soon be needing more
power and that also would reduce front panel requirements:

Two 1U-wide "active" power modules that would come as a set. The first 1U
module would have a power switch, a power indicator, two heavy duty 4-pin
female connectors (circular DIN?) that would provide power distribution to
additional MOTM cases, and a 4-way mult at the bottom. The PowerOne supply
(3amp?) and a 960 distribution board would mount to the inside wall of the
case. The second 1U-wide module would contain the power cord receptacle and
separate fuse holder (and the "no serviceable parts inside" graphic - for
those who order it assembled). I think these would need to be separate
since the size of hole necessary to mount the currently used fuse
holder/receptacle on the 900 would not be feasible in a 1U panel. This
module would normally mount to the rear panel of the case, but could mount
on the front if this is not possible.

A 1U-wide "passive" power module for additional cases. It would have two
female power connectors (one for input and one for passthru to another
additional case), a power indicator and a 4-way mult at the bottom. A 960
distribution board would come with the module and would mount to the inside
wall of the case.

A six foot long 4-conductor 14awg power cable that would have 4-pin male
connectors on each end.
