Subject: Modular Ed: Kick Ass 101!

Just finished my 101 kit and have been madly patching for the last hour.
Powered up as usual with zero problems or difficulties and the manual was
fine other than the 2 known and corrected typos. Solid MOTM quality as usual
and many more uses than I had come up with before a good fiddling session.

This thing is very Fat and the noise source is so smooth! Now I can make
some gritty Hi hats and the like :~) The 101 direct into the 410 VCF is
something else too. I had no idea the sweeping spectrum of the 410 until I
fed the pure full frequency white noise into it WOW!!! Now I am thinking of
another 410 (Damn, isn't it funny how 1 new module can trigger a whole new
cabinet full of ideas?) The pink noise is great and running both mixed into
a 420 can be very slick.

The sample and hold is awesome and far exceeds the usual uses and abilites
of any standard sample and hold I have ever played with. Track and Hold is
very useful and the slew control makes my mooger control processor S&H slew
out sound cheap. Just my opinion anyway. The level control for the sample
and hold out is also a very useful feature and I am very happy to now have
this module in my rack.

I have all of the 5% resistors stuffed in my 3rd 300 VCO and I can't wait to
hear the classic 3 VCO tones tomorrow night! This is basically great mental
therapy as a side effect. I am getting married this weekend (Duhn Duh Duhn
Duh Duhhhhhh) and I have been totally relaxed the whole time building the
kits tonight and the only time I was nervous was at 1st power up as usual
with kit building. How many of you out there have had your wife or old lady
build a kit? Of the people who have, has anyone had there spouse build
anything more difficult than an 800 ADSR? Just curious?
