Subject: MOTM list rules

Since we have some "new folks" here, here my rules for this list:
Rule #1: STAY ON TOPIC
Now, it's OK to wander slightly, but please remember:
a) not everyone has a cable/DSL connection with lots of 'free time' to wade
through junk
b) not everyone has the same interests/experience levels
Rule #2: This is the MOTM list, not the PAiA/Doepfer/Serge/Wiard/blah blah
list
Now, it's ∗perfectly OK∗ to say, "Here is a comparison between my MOTM-300
and my Doepfer VCOs",
because you HAVE both and what better than to compare.
What I WILL NOT TOLERATE is on-list posts like "Hey! you should go check out
X/Y/Z modules! They rock!"
Does EVERYONE see the difference? The CARDINAL SIN is you say that, and YOU
DON'T EVEN OWN ANY.
This happens ∗constantly∗ on AH and other lists, and serves NO PURPOSE
because no useful content is
exchanged. It's like saying, "Man! Check those cool Ferraris! They rock!"
Which bring us to #3......
Rule #3: No "Me, too!" posts.
If somebody actually has a useful email, please don't send a "Me, too!"
email to the list. I'm keeping score.
Example:
Paul S: "Next module is a complete ARP 2600 in 1U"
Did any of these 3 responses add useful content to the initial one? NO!
Rule #4: Please watch responses/titles
I ∗can't control∗ the "response to list" thing. Maybe Steve McFarling can.
Also, if what you are talking about HAS NOTHING TO DO with the title, PLEASE
CHANGE THE TITLE. This
is common with responing, then changing topics, then responding ad nauseum.
That's it in a nutshell. The thing to remember: for a list to function,
there must be GIVE and TAKE. Just stay
on topic, be ∗helpful∗.
