I see both points here. This issue has been dealt with several times on this
list (in terms of both the preamp and the filters as external processing
gear). Maybe someone can put together an authoritative faq and post it on the
Yahoo! site or at the synthtech.com site. It might be worth it since, as you
say, the two standards aren't cross referenced in many places and it can be
quite confusing.
