Sorry to do this to all of you, but I don't have a web page to put hese
pictures on. I have lots of pictures of my new poplar hard case for my MOTM
and would love to share them and post them if someone can help me out :~) I
used 10" wide poplar (semihard wood I guess) and my case holds 2 rows of
20u. I used brass inserts into pine runners like Dave B and it works great.
I only spent $30 for enough of these little inserts for almost 2 of these
cases. I have a jpeg. of the inserts sitting in the pine rails if anyone
would like to see the result up close.
I drilled all of the rail holes freehand with modules as templates and I
only ended up with one hole to re-work. Very lucky as far as I was
concerned. Anyway, I also have pictures of my sealed back, altough it still
awaits ventilation holes and final stain and laquer.
The second jpeg is to show the grain of poplar as a choice for case wood and
the finish I ended up with. Poplar is very available at Home Depot around
California. I used minwax "early american" stain and minwax polyuerethane
finish. I am very satisfierd with the result and I would recommend 3 coats
as a minimum with good sandning between. Foam brush worked great, just like
it said on the can.
I use one 900 power supply and a power dist pcb in the case. The 900 is
sunken mounted on the rear so the panerl on the back covers the whole
surface and leaves a small window for the power switch and AC cord. Sorry to
keep on jabbering, but after a weeks construction time I am very glad to
almost be finished. Again, I sincerely apoligize if this clogged up your box
or anything like that. I am truly honored to share this with the likes of
all on this list whom will surely provide me with honest opinions, help and
criticism in the always bold fashion it is, Ha!

PS. I have 1 VCA and 1 VCO in Construction and the silver module is an
interesting little Maplin kit called the "Voice Vandal" It is a digital
dealy in combination with a ring mod type of distortion that can be is
bandwidth dependant (selecetd with 4 panel push buttons) For $50, I am very
happy with this module even though the carrier noise can be quite obtrusive!
It also has a pre-amplified input to use with guitar or voice signals.
