Yep, that was me. But I bought a Weller solder station based on people's
recommendations and that is what I used to build about 2/3 of my modules. It
works beautifully and the tips don't disintegrate. But it still causes those
problems when soldering to switches. I keep the temperature dial set just to
the right of the 12:00 position. I don't know what temperature that equates
to. But I have learned how to solder the switches to prevent the problems
now.
When I solder IC's I usually just solder a couple of pins, say upper left and
lower right on one IC, then move to the next IC. Then I circle back and do
another couple of pins. This helps prevent them from getting too hot.
