Subject: Wiard Mini-Wave 1202

Here is some info about the Wiard Mini-Wave 1202.

For those of you who don't know, John Blacet of Blacet Research
(http://www.blacet.com) is doing an MOTM/DIY version of the Wiard Mini-Wave
1202. I believe only about 10 of the Mini-Wave were sold by Wiard
(http://www.wiard.com) and it looks like Wiard is on its way of going out of
business. They will not sell individual modules to new buyers--only
complete systems. And they only have a few complete systems left. The
Mini-Wave is also at the heart of the Wiard Waveform City module which
included other functionality such as EG, VCA and mult.

The Mini-Wave has a 400 kHz A/D converter. I belief someone here said Wiard
used the Digisound chip in its design. It also contains a 64k EPROM. (Does
the Mini-Wave morph between sounds as on the PPGs and Waldorfs?)

The Wiard Mini-Wave sold for $199 + $10(S&H) assembled.
The Waveform City sells for $549.

I hope that John Blacet uses a standard MOTM-sized PCB, standard mounting
hole locations, ZIF EPROM socket and a standard MOTM power connector in his
design.

I am assuming that Dave and Larry will probably be doing a run of Mini-Wave
FPs in the future...

Here is the original Mini-Wave manual which includes a variety of MP3s and
pictures.

Here are pics of most of the 256 waves. This link is also included in the
above manual, but it is so important that I wanted to separate it out. Some
of the waves include: square wave compression, Votrox SC-01 voder chip,
binary rate multiplier (CD4098), historic non-linear transforms, custom
waves from Darwin Grosse, Digisound VCDO, harmonic series and quantization
scales.

user's site.
