Hey thats ME !
The PV-1 was layed out for the MAT-01, Mat-02, or
LM394 (i believe in overkill) but Bob Moog's original
version called for the CA3046.
There is a "playpen" area of the board which is
drilled
for a 14 pin chip (CA3046) with two additional pads
for the tempco. Those "reasonably skilled in the art"
could hack the 3046 in without much trouble.
Personally, I'd use the 2SC1583 pair (of TB303 fame).
This is reasonably cheap, and a better tranny than the
3046.
Ask TomG on the EFM site, I think he can sell both the
tempco and the 2SC1583 (where I got mine...) or since
this is Paul's list (hi paul!) you can buy the tempco
resistor from him also. The PV-1 boards are still in
stock at this point.
