Subject: Re : [Simmons Drums] Q: SDS7 4 e-prom analog/digital card

I could ask Dave on that one.
I don't know myself, only came across one or two at some point on ebay probably...

but yes there must be something interesting to do on the Eproms.
Not the priority yet on the 7 the though.

We need to securise a new memory, and get rid of the battery first.
I've seen you have some solutions about back panel contacts too.
on the top on usual electronic maintenance.

There's still quite some job to do on the (could be) wonderful sds7...

Speak soon
Patrice.

Objet: [Simmons Drums] Q: SDS7 4 e-prom analog/digital card

Anyone know if the four e-prom version of the analog/digital voice card for SDS7 where a genuine Simmons product? Or where they aftermarket add-on from 3.party?

I like the idea of these cards, but it seams we could make them more simple, or add more sounds using bigger e-proms and some simple address altering.

Surprisingly many useful 8-bit samples only need 8kB. That's a whopping 64 sounds on a single 512 e-prom that actually will fit in the standard socket. Or 16 long tom decays or cymbal samples.
