Subject: [Simmons Drums] SDS7 Voice Card databus question

From: "Hans" <hr.public@...>
Date: 2016-04-26

Not sure what happened with the 10 day delay of my mail. Anyway, I’ve been able to power up my SDS7 again and done some probing to answer my question in my last mail.

Although, if Thierry’s schematic is availably it would be interesting to compare it to my own ideas accumulated last 10 days J

It should not be hard to replace the cpu/memory and user panel with 15 whirling knobs and a MPU developer board.

Best

Emne: [Simmons Drums] SDS7 Voice Card databus question

Looking at Thierry’s amazing reverse engineering of the SDS7 voice board I’m wondering one thing.

According to my understanding all CV’s to alter the dynamics of the sound seems to be extracted from the trigger input on each individual voice card. No need for the CPU to actually know dynamics.

Are there S&H circuits hidden on the Hybrid module in conjunction with the VCA’s? Enabling the CPU to burst stored kit data continues to the bus.

Or does the CPU actually wait for a trigger input before bursting corresponding data to trigger source?

If possible I love to see Thierry’s schematic for his single voice test board? I guess that paper will fill the void.

Thanks!
Hans
