Yeah, it's pretty nice to slap one of these on a tired ZI pad and see immediate and drastic improvements. It took two years, two factories, and lots of testing, but in the end we now have a superior and "smoother" FSR to the 1987 ones. And with Ed working on the Rubber Surfaces, the future of the ZI's looks good IMO.
 
To address your concern about using a new old stock FSR to compare these new ones, it really wouldn't matter as the results would have been similar.. the new FSRs are made slightly differently than the old ones...plus the standoff "dots" and the inconsistency they created are no longer an issue. The limitations of the 1987 versions are gone.

I think you would be impressed with them honestly... you might even toss out the old ones after.. hehehe. The sensitivity, accuracy and overall smoothness of these new FSRs really exposes the limitations of the old ones.. but like you say, it may not be worth it if you already have a case of old ones and are used to their unpredictable and erratic response.... heheheh. There's some old "half FSRs" on Ebay now for the cost of having a new FULL FSR that provides better results. To me it's a no brainer. Plus these new ones are far easier to install and are basically "plug and play".

In any event, I'm hoping you others will decide to take advantage of the improved response the new ones provide.
