Subject: Re: MTM display replacement

I have added some pics to the MTM LED Replacement Folder in PHOTOS...

Instead of soldering 16 wires directly to the new LED Display, I chose instead to solder a male 16 pin Header to it... then fabricated a new flat ribbon cable with a 2 x 8 Wire to Board Male Connector on one end and a 1 x 16 position Female Socket Connector to mate with the Header on the LED Display. This makes for a cleaner look and easier maintenance should the LED ever need to be removed or replaced. Also, as per recommendations in the above posts, I removed the factory 4k7 Trim Pot and swapped in its place a 10k single turn with its top left pin lifted off the board and soldered to a wire connected to the +5v leg of the Resistor R7 (that also provides +5v to the LED in the new Display). The 10k Trimmer allows for a very wide scope of adjustment being possible.  Very cool ! :-)

Cheers
