I second that opinion. The edge connectors or as I call them.."the I hope something is making contact connector" causes most of the problems I have dealt with - apart from PSU issues. You need to be quite adept at soldering if you are going to "re-tin" the contact surfaces. They have to be very thinly tinned, no big "sploges" or built up. The surface must be smooth and free of lumps AND all the contacts must be uniform in thickness etc. If not you will probably damage the socket it fits into thus causing more headaches. When the V's were a lot younger I have also carefully pushed the socket contacts back toward the center slot of the socket. This would also improve the connection. I wouldn't do it now as the metal has aged, oxidized and probably become brittle with age. Trying this technique will probably snap the contact off rendering it useless. You can still buy the sockets (in longish strips) you just cut off the sections you need and solder new ones to the backplane.

Two reasons: The fingers/tracks were tinned with a soldering iron. This wears out, you can see scars in the tinning. You have to re-tin it from time to time. Sometimes, if you transport the SDSV roughly, the edge connectors  break off the backplane. Then you have to re-solder them.

Hi everyone.


I recently took my SDSV on the road for a month.  It was great, but I started noticing a particular issue started happening:

Basically - when I would power it on, one of the Tom voices would start instantly registering an incoming trigger - even when nothing was plugged into it.  When I switched through the 4 black preset buttons the red trigger LED would blink at differing rates. I removed the offending card and put it back into its slot, which sometimes temporarily caused the issue to stop.

Additionally - the Kick voice would occasionally not register any trigger at all.  Everything would light up as usual, but when I started triggering it - nothing would happen.  I also found that removing the card and putting it back into the slot would temporarily solve this issue.

Has anyone had the same thing happen?

Any help is appreciated.
