Sorry to hijack the original thread..not intended but this is how conversations generally flow in "the real world" as well

I agree about Alan Wilder. I remembered thinking that DM was dead and buried when Vince Clarke left. Alan provided his "classical" training in bringing Martin Gore's ideas and lyrics to a polished result. Sad that he left having felt being an "outsider" in the band. That was a dark period for them, Dave G had "gone off the rails" and the future looked bleak.

I love the whole first album, didn't quite get into the second but really enjoy everything else. Probably my fave songs are;

Just Can't get enough, Somebody, Shout, It Doesn't Matter, Stripped, Walking in my shoes, Precious and I can listen all day to Enjoy the silence. I guess that I love the fact that DM is not a "come back band" they have never gone away and have continued moving forward for over 30 years. Considering they were regarded as a "one hit wonder" band, they are to me in the same ranks as the Stones...probably higher as the Rolling Stones stopped putting out new material a while back.
