Subject: Re: [Simmons Drums] Re: SDS 6/7 Mem Cart - need dimension info

Hi,
I would definitely take two of your cards, one for my SDS-6 and one for my SDS-7. Probably a third one, but it
also really depends on the price. Do you have something in mind concerning the price ?
And I'm sure a lot of people would want to have one on this group as well :-)
Best,
Thomas

If interest was strong enough for a "standard" 4k memory cart, I would do them PCB's as surface mount and get a batch of them made in china or similar (to keep cost down) then fit them into cases. If this path was taken I'd have to order a minimum of around 50 units.

This would be done via a microcontroller or FPGA that would include an SDCARD and or USB connectivity. The unit would have an LCD display and a few buttons and connect to the cart port via a cable. Having USB would allow for software on a PC that would allow "offline" editing of stored parameters and data for the SDS 6/7. Don't hold your breath as this would be a more complex job for a unit of this kind.

My reason for this is that in the process of developing a new cart, it has come to mind that I could also design a baseboard that plugs into the SDS 6/7 cart port that allows you to fit say 4 to 8 carts and select the one to use. This would be great for existing cart owners and also allow "mass" storage until I can design a new cart that allows USB and SDCARD storage. (this unit is more work that in looks, it needs an lcd display, keypad etc and would be a stadn alone device that plugs into the cart port via a ribbon cable)
