Not being an electronics tech either, and not knowing the SDS-8 very well, I can't say: "this right here is your problem". What I can add to the conversation is that it obviously has a dead short somewhere in the unit causing the fuse to blow. If the unit has an internal memory battery in it, it may have leaked and caused damage to the board causing a dead short, or it could be an issue with the power supply unit inside, or a burned resistor, or...., but these are just random guesses. As stated before, without opening it up and visually inspecting it and checking some values, its near impossible to give you a starting point. If you don't have any electronics experience or knowledge, I would leave it to a pro. You'll be better off in the long run.
