Hello Fellow Simmons Fanatics,

Joined here quite some time ago but never posted until now. Anyway, I am a 46 year old drummer from West Tennessee in the USA. Back when Simmons first hit the market, I was a teenager when Simmons first hit the USA and finally bought one second hand in late 1989. I have owned bunches of E-Kits over my long drumming life from Simmons SDS7, SDS8, SDS9, SDS1000, Yamaha DTXtreme IIS, Dtxtreme III, ddrum SE4.0(original ddrum when they were made in Sweden).
Last year, I got all nostalgic and began collecting vintage Simmons Gear. In a short time, I managed to get a SDS7 module, Analog Clap Trap, SDS1000, SDS9. Out of all the Simmons Pads, the SDS9 series are still my favorite pad of choice. I have collected 18 Red SDS9 tom/snare pads and 2 SDS9 Kick Drum Pads. I scored a very rare gem last year when looking through local Craigslist Ads and found a 1 owner complete Simmons SDS9 Kit within 150 miles of my home. I made the long drive and met the original owner who turned out to be a very beautiful middle aged woman who ordered the Simmons SDS9 Kit brand new in 1988-89 complete with Hybrid Fitted Cases. She worked for George Steinbrenner (Yankees Owner) as part of a touring house band that played all his hotels. She had pix of herself singing lead and playing the kit. She looked just like Sheena Easton back in the 1980's. She shared many pics and stories of playing the Simmons Kit which I bought from her. She retired from touring and kept the drums in storage for over 20 years. They were a time capsule when she opened the Hybrid Drum Cases to reveal a mint condition SDS9 Kit complete with SDS9 Module. I picked them up or a mere $350USD. Anyway, I play the kit daily and have converted all the tom pads into dual trigger zone pads which I use with a new 2Box Drumit Five Module. The Simmons SDS9 Pads still play and feel better to me than most current brands of pads on the market. Well, that's my story and I am sticking to it. I added a photo album here on the group showing off my pride and joy. Thanks for reading.
