Dave - I'd suggest you check out the power supply section, especially the large electrolytic capacitors as they may have dried out. My Trixer has no hum at all so I don't think it's "usual" for a machine to hum.

Not sure about the reverb - have you reseated the reverb section ROM chips?

I've also got a Trixer II so will dump the ROMs when I next get to it, but as far as I remember it has the same Simmons sound ROM as the original Trixer.
