Brian Horton put up post asking about Drum sound software.
I Assumed he was talking about "Addictive Drums" by XLN Audio.
This got me thinking more about my overall plans and determining if I was still on track.
Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm not too sure where I will end up. I have no time for a band at this stage of life. I mainly play to pre-recorded music and occasionally jam with others. I'm not into recording myself playing to CD's like I see on Youtube. I suppose in a few years, when the kids are out of college I may get serious and try playing in a band again. Years ago, before I stopped playing, I was into jazz/rock fusion....Dregs, Jeff Beck, etc.
My plan is to combine my acoustic set along with my SDS9 and another electronic set to MIDI trigger something like Addictive Drums.
I'm still getting my SDS9 up and running then have to figure out tom mounts before committing to the MIDI end of it.
Addictive Drums looks like what I'm hoping to end up with.
I play various types of music and having the ability to change up the sounds available to my electronic triggers is critical.
My thought is to use a computer with a MIDI card to trigger the software and send it to my Behringer X1222USB mixer.
I'm wishing now I would have gotten the X1832USB as I'm running out of inputs. The budget wasn't there.
I did find a used Makie CFX20 I may pick up. The guy only wants $250 USD for it. Looking on eBay, they go for north of $400, so unless there is something wrong with it, looks to be a deal.
I think it would be interesting to know how others are keeping the older Simmons electronic drums in use and current.
