Musicaid was the legal predecessor of "Simmons Electronic Drums Ltd.". During the Musicaid era 80 SDSV brains had been built at Hatfield Road since spring of 81. All more or less by hand, all more or less individual prototypes. If you compare Musicaid brains pairwise you will recognize slight differences in most cases. For example different circuit board layouts, different compontens etc... . Musicaid got bankrupt at the end of 1981. "Simmons Electronic Drums Ltd." was launched, they moved to Abbey Mill and started the serial production of SDSV. For those later SDSV brains they used a different type push buttons. The reason might be reliability or the price?! The early red caps will not fit on later brains and vice versa.
