i have a V and an 800 that i'm very familiar with.

i think the SDS-V is slightly less exciting sounding but more thick, punchy, and drum like with its standard bend style pitch without any modulation.  The 800 is way more synth like with real resonance and cross mods.  it's never as 'big' to me as the V as if it only wants to do lazer sounds.

pew pew pew!!!!

i doubt there's any real direct circuit relationship...

please correct me!

Subject: [Simmons Drums] SDS5 compared to SDS7

I've got an SDS800 and SDS7; have no first-hand experience with an SDSV.

I've read that the SDS8/800 is a budget version of the SDS7, but to my ears the analogue section of my SDS7 has a very different character than my SDS800. I assume (correct me if I'm wrong) the SDS7's analogue voices DCO while the SDS800 are VCO, and the CEM's are probably different too.

So I'm wondering... What other unit would you compare the SDSV to? (Ignoring the digital section of the SDS7, just comparing the analogue section obviously!)

all my best,
- Scott
