Hi ,
Just a little rectification Jesper (if you allow me ...)
Simmons big factory (Simmons electronic Ltd )has closed in the late
80's, but then Dave founded Simmons digital to the early 90's (that's
when the TRIXER , SDS2000,DRUHUGGERS & HEXAHEADS were in production )
& then Sound unit which has been in activity to 1999 (that's when the
XRack, the SDX in rack, had been conceived & produced ... .
Then only dave stopped his Edrumming activity... We all regret it...
Wasn't Simmons the best and most innovative eDrum
> > system ?
>
Yes & No ...
The SDX had went farest than DDRUM or ROLAND , it's still the STAtE
Of the ARt Edrums , BUT , it was't finished ...Simmons had to close
because of it & in the middle of it ...
It works great with a fe knowwn bugs (that you can avoid...) but the
pads are still very hard to play !
I can tell you that 20 years later , it's still the unit which has
gone the farest ...
the SDX was a digital system with some awesome analogic filters !!!
DDRUM 3 is the more professional unit to me because the most reliable
on stage but it doesn't sound as well as the SDX ...
But the Triggering system is very good, very versatile & it doesn't
bug ...& it's a small rack !
But DDRum didn't finished it neither & introduced the DD4 which is
deceiving for a professional use ...
The Roland system has a splendid pad system but sounds like a toy or
an old R70 !
Shame on these companies which didn't devellop seriously their
products ! ..
SIMMONS was THE one because of its innovative aspects (& this
incredible Fat Sound ...
But the market changed, & they took so many risks that they didn't
really survived to that.
I think I have to say that the more innovativ system isn't necessary
the best sounding one...
Personnally, I ould go to a laptop system with some good pads,
they're plenty of good ones now.
But nothing has the SIMMONS look !!!
OK then !
Hope this helps !
Patrice.
