Yep the octopad works great with the SDE. Set up you midi channel and assign the notes to the pads you want... simple as that. I think even on the older Octapads you can assign a different midi channel per pad, but you'd have to check.
Depending on the octopad you may have layering which means you can assign upto 3 notes on each pad... and trigger one or all depending on the settings and how hard you thump it, chords! :)... You can also plug additional pads in the back.
Dont have any spare SDE cartridges do you :) lol
