Hi All
>But the musician's point of view is not exactly the same as the
collector's view...
Then there is the speculator and the investor and the tax man!!!
A lot of old (and not so old) gear is sold off to by musicians to repay debts and by investors to move on to something else that is HOT
The whole music / fashion business is a circular thing
Issue at as high a price as the market will stand
Reduce price and sell old unwanted stock (TB-303 for £89:00))
Second hand prices slowly fall (303 now £25:00)
Someone has a hit using said instrument and everybody wants one (303 £1000)
One of those sorry that was last years fashion!!! (303 £500)
Savvy musicians spot a good deal and prices rise
Everybody moves in and prices rocket again (303 £1500)
Bad investment and the instrument is dumped
Join the circle and go round again
Get on and off when you feel you can afford it
At the moment I am sitting it out and enjoying playing with the gear that I have
