Justin,
The nickel cadmium battery is rated @ 3.6V, 150 or 160 mAh. The Maplin
Electronics (UK) is BN24. They ship internationally and it really doesn't cost
that much. For me it was worth the shipping because I ordered 5 of them for a
pair of SDS-7s and a pair of MTMs plus a spare. As I said Radio Shack doesn't
sell anything like it and you'll be lucky to find a salesman who knows what
you're talking about. The days of home electronics tinkering are long gone and
Radio Shack has moved on to "cash & carry" items like t.v. and cell phones. Few
people are interested in radio kits and the like. You may luck out and find a
dealer on the web who builds batteries (like the rechargeable packs in older
cordless phones) and get something close to what you need but I'd go w/ Maplin
because they're reputable and they make a battery pack that is very close to
the original battery in regard to voltage and miliamperes.
