I think it could be a smart idea to left the shells transparent (i think no one has a transparent Simmons nowaday!) and to cover the backside of the wooden hexagonal parts of the pads with a shiny coloured plastic surface (white, or blue, or red... they could be intechangeble too).

Oggetto: [Simmons Drums] Re: Transparent SDSV Shells
I have heard of those colored foils. Interesting idea, but, if I decide to paint them, I may well go with an orange/yellow sunburst. Or maybe a red/blue/purple burst. Who knows? I've painted a few guitars, which came out pretty well, but I am hesitant to paint these for all the reasons/cautions that folks have posted in response. Now I think of it, a transparent color would be interesting.
Following along with an earlier thread, it would be cool if someone (maybe even me) made up some decent decals and shared them with those group members who needed/wanted them.
Cheers,
Jim
