Not to stray too far off-topic, but it's my favorite analog drum synth and
secret weapon. It uses the triggering design of the Synare 3 - piezo
speaker mounted on the underside that draws power from the battery when
struck - and suffers from the same issues, namely false triggers/crosstalk
on loud stages and that annoying waking pop if it hasn't been struck for a
while.
HOWEVER, the synth section is way more advanced than the Synare (which is a
huge disappointment if you want something other than the disco "pooo" sound)
- 2 oscillators, 2 invertible envelopes, switchable hi/lo/band pass filter,
noise, ring mod, LFO, etc. etc. probably too complicated for the average
drummer. The exact same unit was sold as the "JHS Pro-Rhythm Drum Synth"
and is most likely the original design (Multivox only copied other's
designs). I believe Coron made a version as well. It was a flop and very
few were made, I think the one I have is a trade show demo. It's my dream
to build a multi-channel version with trigger inputs.
...Actually, forget everything I just said, It's a piece of junk and you
don't want one. If anyone comes across one just send it to me for disposal
