I use the same setup with no problem for my pads that are set up as
cymbols. This is coupled with the drums running on an SDS1000. Standard
mono guitar cables work just fine. Could be the trigger sensitivity
setting on the alesis, its called VCurve, standard is 4 try changing
this number lower or higher(range is 0-7), noise setting and crosstalk
settings also come into play, noise being transmits from rack shake
/floorboard bounce etc, and crosstalk is dual triggering from other
drums. It can be quite time consuming setting it up but its worth every
minute , and I had a lot of fun tuning mine.

These settings need to be setup for each and every pad, ive found the
ones with hard plastic type rubber heads work much better than the ones
with quite springy rubber. IMHO the alesis triggers best with hexheads.

Do you have the manual for the Alesis if not its easy to find as a PDF
on the internet or I can forward you a copy.
