interesting question !

Well I played & own all Simmons types pads...& don't like them at all...
Except this magic Shape & look !!!
I must find a way to make them bouncy & "injuriesless"...one day
maybe...
I dream all the time that Dave would have done some 10' once to make
them easy to incorporate in a normal kit ...
the very small he did weren't ver precise in triggering (the rubber
would come off easily...& with the piezo technology they were very
sensitive to crosstalk...)
actually the Huggers were horrible look but had a nice precision &
bounce...

I love the drumtech Polepads & Rimpads (very comfortable & dynamic, no
cross talk at all
,"thanks to the FSR technology first used by Simmons" ......etc ...
very efficient on all my modules & unbreakable !!! )
The best touch ever for the moment...

I also love the drumkat touch !
Very bouncy rubber !
I find too hard the Trapkat but it's OK ...

I like the dynamic of the ddrum3 & 4 set with Mesheads ...especially
the 10' ...
& their ability to absorb the schock, their precision in "pianissimo"
hits...

I like very much the Roland pads in 12' , I don't find the 10' as
good ...
even if I prefer that sort of size generally..
But the bounce on a 10' is not so good ...

I never tryed the Hart Dynamics, there are not much in France...
They probably react like the ddrums... I have to check them as they
have a very good reputation...
& I love the look of the ACUPADs especially in Gold finish...
they have the same sort of ufo & sci fi spirit that we all love in
Simmons ones...

I must say that we had in France an Edrums Pads' manufacturer who used
a very good rubber (like "real feel" practice pads )
they were called "Mididrum"...

I also loved the Dauz pads in 12' & 10'...the 8 was Ok but a bit too
hard...

I think the rubber pads are bringing a very pleasant electronic
touch, but they are easy to deal with ...
the Mesheads are someting else...very good , but there is taht weird
sensation of a sliding contact (I use Nylon tips)

About the BD pads , I didn't find another thing that these F.A.T
pedals...
I'm not convinced by these yamaha & Roland things ...
My Hexabass is not so bad (if you don"t play it loud) ...
I definitely prefer the real thing, a 20' (like Phil Gould)...even a
18' ...(but I love the 22' & 24' sound...)
I always use a ddrum acoustic trigger or the FAT just close to my
regular BD pedal...depends if I need a single electronic sound or if I
wanna double & reinforce my acoustic BD...

what about you ?
& you guys ?

Patrice.
