It depends on what IC though... my thought is that if it's a rarer one it
may not be worth the trouble since you can pick up a "new" SDS-8 on Ebay
below 100 euro ( found one in mint condition costing me 56 + shipping). But
if it's some "dozen component" it's worth it... Don't thow it away though
since some things work. use for spares or sell as spares...

It depends on what is broken - filter IC? Then it's harder... just a dry
soldering joint then it's easier... Don't you know anyone with soldering
skills...?
