Subject: SDS9 - white noise problem?!

Hi!

I am so glad I've found this group. I hope one of you will have some
experience with my problem and can shed some light on what needs to
be done.

I've owned my SDS9 for about 20 years now. About 6 to 8 years after
purchasing it, it developed a white noise sound on the mid tom
channel. You can program it out using the noise/tone parameter, but
as soon as you power it back up the noise problem is back. And what's
strange is that it's present in the ROM factory kits, or maybe that's
not strange, I don't know. A tech told me years ago that getting a
schematic from Simmons was problematic, but that he'd look at it if I
wanted him to. Well, the SDS9 went into the closet and that's where
it's been until I pulled it out the other day and went to messing
around with it. And yes, as you'd suspect, the battery backup needs
replacing. So I'll get that done pronto. (As soon as I can find the
right one)

If anyone knows what's wrong with this unit or what it sounds like is
wrong, or something I might try, I'd really appreciate your 2 cents.
Maybe someone knows where I could get my hands on the electrical
schematic.

Thanks so much for your time!
Sam
