Hi Berk,
I personnaly don't agree with everything , BUT it is all for that reasons
that SImmons had to close .
So it's quite a realistic observation ! But just not my choices ...
all people who really like Simmons or analog & even digital drumkits it's
just because they are hypnotised by the sound quality or particularity ...
Which bring us in a very small community ; we're probably all on this list
...
That's also why Simmons closed .
WHen I asked him a few years ago , "why that , why that & why that" Dave
just told me ;
imagine how many drummers you are on the music market ; just a small
pourcentage !? now imagine how many Drummers who are playing Edrums ...even
less ...
It's a too small market with a big competition going on ...
Who cares about having a magic sound ? just a very few people ; US !!! & a
few other ...
U're right , all the other people want a drumkit to find peace with their
neighbours ...
or to imagine that they have easily a good (?) sound that they can't reach
on their drumkit (for many reasons) ...
For a while it was the Phil Collins sound...
That's why we never had a really perfect Edrum Kit ...the SDX was nearly the
one but its devellopment has been sadly interrupted ...
The Dynacord ADDTwo was very close too ...THe ddrum3 reached main of the
goodies we needed , but after the SDX I wasn't really convinced by the ddrum
sound...
All this modules had been interrupted in their evolution...
Now we have some Yamaha & Roland Toys ...that have brought their part of
good things but they sound like toys ...
The only close thing to the real one I heard recently is the DrumKit From
Hell , but very dedicated to the real sound ...
No Other textures on that one ...but the real thing so easily good ...
But I know now why I collect some SImmons elements ; because I want them to
sound differently as my acoustic drums ...
The SDX is like a Fairlight , I like it because it sounds so deep with its
very own sound caracteristic ...
So I like Simmons for what it does, not for what it could do ...
Anyway I still see a lot of passion on this List !
That's probably the most important ...
Let's bring our crappy, sci fi & fabulous Sounds in the productions again
!!!
Conservative or not ? who cares if it sounds good ...
See you all !
Patrice.
